Why is the galvanized street lamp pole rusty

Street lamp pole is a typical outdoor lighting product. Due to long-term exposure to the sun and rain, the requirements for anti-corrosion and anti rust treatment of the lamp pole surface during the production process are very strict. However, there are still many cases that show that the street lamp poles treated with anti-corrosion and rust prevention still show signs of corrosion.

The antirust treatment process is mainly hot-dip galvanizing. After hot-dip galvanizing treatment, the street lamp pole can be guaranteed to be free of rust for at least 15 years.

Many customers reported that the streetlight poles they bought were rusted in less than half a year. According to common sense, this phenomenon is almost impossible to happen within half a year. Unless the galvanizing process is unqualified, or the street lamp manufacturer chooses low-cost cold galvanizing as the antirust treatment of the lamp pole in order to save costs. After investigation, it is understood that this situation has nothing to do with galvanizing.

The customer said that the corrosion parts of the street lamps were relatively concentrated, and there was no irregular and indiscriminate corrosion. Generally speaking, the rusty parts are concentrated at the welded junction, so it is not difficult to explain. We know that after the blackboard (and steel plate) is welded, the street lamp pole must be polished and slag removed before galvanizing, because the surface of the galvanized lamp pole is very hard. If the spatter generated in the welding process is not cleaned up before galvanizing, it is difficult to clean up after galvanizing, but there are exceptions. Due to time problems, there is not enough time to process the weld bead before galvanizing. The above problems can only occur after re galvanizing.
