Why are galvanized road lamp poles rusted

Street lamp pole is a typical outdoor lighting product. Due to long-term sunshine and rain, the anti-corrosion and anti rust treatment requirements on the surface of the lamp pole are very strict in the production process. However, there are still many cases showing that the street lamp poles after anti-corrosion and rust treatment still have corrosion signs.

Many customers reported that the street lamp poles they purchased had rusted in less than half a year. According to common sense, this phenomenon is almost impossible to happen within half a year. Unless the galvanizing process is unqualified, or the street lamp manufacturer chooses low-cost cold galvanizing as the antirust treatment of the lamp pole in order to save costs.

Through investigation, it is understood that this situation has nothing to do with galvanizing. The customer said that the corrosion parts of the street lamps were concentrated, and there was no irregular or indiscriminate corrosion. Generally speaking, the rusted part is concentrated at the weld junction, so it is not difficult to explain. We know that after the rolling welding of the blackboard (and the steel plate) is completed, the street lamp pole must be polished before galvanizing, because the surface of the galvanized lamp pole is very hard. If the spatter generated during welding is not cleaned before galvanizing, it is difficult to clean after galvanizing, but there are exceptions. Due to the time problem, there is not enough time to process the weld bead before galvanizing. Only after re galvanizing can the above problems occur.

The galvanized thickness of the rod surface of general height is 55 μ m。 This thickness is very small. After galvanizing, use an angle grinder to polish. The galvanized layer will be directly damaged and the damaged galvanized parts will lose their rust prevention ability. Therefore, the way to solve this problem is to clean the welded junction that needs to be polished before galvanizing, and do not polish it after galvanizing. Only in this way can the anti-corrosion life of the galvanizing process be extended to the maximum extent and the perfect quality of the lamp pole be guaranteed.
